Me Marie-Joëlle Demers obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Montréal in 2007. She began her undergraduate studies in criminology before focusing on criminal and penal law upon being admitted to the Quebec Bar in 2009. Me Demers founded Solution Avocat, criminalistes to defend and represent citizens charged with a criminal offence and ensured the firm is authorized to act in every judicial district in Quebec.
Me Demers also volunteers her time with several Quebec Bar committees, including the committee drafting the Guide des meilleures pratiques en droit criminel and the committee overseeing legislative reviews.
Me Marie-Joëlle Demers is a member of the Association des avocats de la défense de Montréal – Laval – Longueuil (AADM and the Association québécoise des avocats et avocates de la défense (AQAAD).
Since 2019, she represents the Longueuil chapter on the Board of Directors of the Association des avocats de la défense de Montréal—Laval—Longueuil (AADM). Me Demers has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Barreau de Longueuil since 2017 and acted as secretary for the 2020–2021 term.
She was president of the Association du jeune barreau de Longueuil (AJBL) in 2014–2015 and sat on the Board of Directors of the Association du jeune barreau régional (AJBR) between 2013 and 2015.
Since 2012, Me Demers has been working closely with Lamoureux Morin Avocats, a law firm specializing in labour law. As the need arises, she represents their clients in criminal and penal cases.
Me Demers also provides criminal and penal representation for the clients of Salalegal, a law firm specializing in immigration law.
